Goal: Run or walk 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. Total mileage is 48 miles.

Training structure: Increase weekly mileage with easy runs and tempo runs. Scale up from your current fitness level to ultimately being comfortable running or walking 8 miles at a time without stopping. Option to complete a 4x4x24 as practice (4 miles every 4 hours, for 24 hours).

Originally invented by David Goggins as a challenge to complete during the COVID-19 outbreak, the beauty of the 4x4x48 is that all you need is yourself, a pair of shoes, and two days. There are plenty of resources available to read about this popular challenge. Strategies differ for sleeping, fueling, and rest during the break periods. Try out what works for you in a scaled-down version of the challenge. For example, try a 4x4x12 hours (3 rounds) or simply 4x4x8 hours (2 rounds) while testing different fueling and sleeping strategies.

This is a VIRTUAL challenge on January 24- January 26 2025. You can join from the comfort of your home (where you can shower, sleep, eat, stretch, take an ice bath, etc. in between rounds).
